Craig Evans: How Long Were Late Antique Literary Manuscripts In Use?

Video Icon

How long were manuscripts in use before being discarded? “This is a very important question,” says Dr. Craig Evans in a recent lecture at Southeastern Seminary, because it relates to the reliability of the Scriptures.

In this lecture,“How Long Were Late Antique Literary Manuscripts in Use?”,  Dr. Evans argues that manuscripts were used for much longer than scholars once thought. He discusses stratigraphy, longevity, the evidence of Oxyrhynchus and much more.

Dr. Evans is Distinguished Professor of Christian Origins at Houston Baptist University, and he presented a lecture as part of the 2018 Ph.D. Colloquium Series at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
