This summer we want to help you craft the perfect Summer Reading List. We asked Southeastern Seminary professors what books they would recommend, and we’re sharing their recommendations.

Today, Dr. Miguel Echevarria recommends a book for your summer reading list.

Paying attention to such features opens our eyes...

Text and Paratext: Book Order, Title, and Division as Keys to Biblical Interpretation
by Gregory Goswell (Lexham, 2023)

Goswell helps us think about the importance of “paratextual” features like book order and titles for reading Scripture. Paying attention to such features opens our eyes to how the final form of the canon should guide our reading of biblical texts. Highly recommended as you sun bathe!

The Spirit, Ethics, and Eternal Life: Paul’s Vision for the Christian Life in Galatians
by Jarvis J Williams (IVP Academic, 2023)

Williams expounds on the role of the Spirit in the book of Galatians. He links the Spirit to the activity of redemption and the Christian life. A great read as you sit in the shallow end of the pool!
