Teen marijuana use demonstrably impairs and reduces the development of your brain, and you just don’t get it back.

Highlights from the Episode:

  • What’s the difference between THC and CBD?
“THC and CBD are components of the cannabis plant…. THC is typically the component people want because that’s the one that makes you high. That’s the one that brings about this washing of your brain with dopamine which is how we feel pleasure. CBD is a different component…. CBD is typically not understood to be psychoactive, that is, it doesn’t intoxicate you…. It is not intoxicating. All of my concerns with regards to the recreational use of marijuana really don’t apply to CBD.”
  • Why does this matter for a local church?
“I would assume there are people in your church using marijuana, probably for medical uses and a lesser number recreationally. The sooner you can get good information into their hands and start treating this like a discipleship issue, [the better].”
  • Why is marijuana use unwise?
“The FDA, all the various health organizations, have strong warnings about marijuana use. I mean, teen marijuana use demonstrably impairs and reduces the development of your brain, and you just don’t get it back. It’s a horrible idea for young people to use marijuana. And another bit of information that you just don’t hear is that strong link between psychosis and mental illness with marijuana use. The evidence is growing and growing that particularly those that have a family predisposition to mental illness that cannabis use will enhance or quicken the onset of that mental illness.”
