About this event
Trevin Wax joined us for the Drummond Bush Lecture on Tuesday, September 10 at 7:00pm.
Dr. Wax delivered a lecture titled, “4 Challenges Facing the Church in the Western World.” In this lecture, we will consider four major challenges facing the church in the Western world: (1) the “be true to yourself” mindset of expressive individualism, (2) an Enlightenment-influenced privatized and personalized understanding of the gospel, (3) Christianity’s moral vision, and (4) the rise of various pseudo-religious identities and spiritualities. The goal is to recognize the significance of these challenges and meet them with faith in God, hope in God’s promises, and love for our neighbors.
The Drummond Bush Lecture was established in 2011 and made possible by a generous gift from Mrs. Drummond in memory of her late husband Dr. Lewis Drummond, fourth president of SEBTS (1988-1992). The Drummond-Bush lecture series honors Dr. L. Russ Bush, who at the time of his death was professor of Philosophy at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and director of the L. Russ Bush Center for Faith and Culture. The lecture series addresses apologetic and cultural issues related to the life and ministry of the Church.
