This summer we want to help you craft the perfect Summer Reading List. We asked Southeastern Seminary professors what books they would recommend, and we’ll share their recommendations in coming weeks.
Today, Karen Swallow Prior, Research Professor of English and Christianity and Culture, recommends a book for your summer reading list.
Art and Faith: A Theology of Making
By Makoto Fujimura (Yale University Press, 2021)
Prior: The title captures exactly what this beautiful book is about. Fujimura is an accomplished and renown painter, as well as a believer. This book isn’t just for artists and creatives, however. It is a theological reflection for all believers on what it means to be made by a Maker and to be makers ourselves in a variety of ways. It’s a compelling, insightful read, and is as refreshing as a summer breeze.
